Created in 1999, EarthCraft HouseTM is the environmentally friendly building program co-created by the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and Southface Energy Institute. Named Green Building Program of the Year in 2004 by the National Association of Home Builders, the EarthCraft House program recognizes that there are many ways to reduce pollution and conserve natural resources in construction, while at the same time allowing builders flexibility in choosing the measures that are most practical for the homes they build.

As EarthCraft builders, we submit a worksheet detailing the EarthCraft House measures we plan to incorporate in every home we build. We consider materials, pricing, availability and suitability for the site, location and the specific home itself. But building to EarthCraft standards requires more than just filling out a few forms. Pine Mountain Builders is recognized as one of an elite group of builders committed to constructing only 100% EarthCraft homes.

EarthCraft inspectors verify each home's selections and strenuously grade the measures we take in areas including site planning; tree preservation; protected tree save areas and new plantings; R-factor insulation rated for specific areas of the home; insulated windows and doors; weather stripping; energy efficient appliances; resource efficient design; site planning, energy efficient techniques and equipment; waste management; and indoor air quality. The inspector then conducts an on-site inspection to confirm that each home has been constructed to meet all Earth- Craft House requirements.
